Today, it features over 3,000 merchants and 5,000 independent brands, offering customers fast, free shipping, easy returns, and a clutter-free shopping journey. Unlike many platforms, Verishop doesn’t rely on third-party resellers or pay-to-play listings, ensuring that every product meets its quality standards. Its mission is simple yet ambitious: to help emerging and independent brands thrive in the digital age.
Early Life and Education
Verishop CEO Imran Khan was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and moved to the United States in 1996 to pursue higher education. He attended the University of Denver, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance and Economics. His global upbringing and solid academic foundation gave him a unique perspective one that combined a deep understanding of emerging markets with an analytical approach to business and finance.
From Finance to the Tech World
Khan’s career began at WildBlue, a satellite-broadband startup in Denver, before moving into finance roles at ING Barings and Fulcrum Global in New York. His big break came at JPMorgan, where he served as head of global internet and U.S. entertainment equity research. Later, as Managing Director at Credit Suisse, he worked on some of the world’s most high-profile internet IPOs, including Alibaba’s record $25 billion public offering, as well as GoDaddy, Groupon, Box, and Weibo. This period solidified his reputation as a tech finance expert capable of bridging Wall Street strategy with Silicon Valley innovation.
Scaling Snap into a Digital Giant
In 2015, Khan joined Snap Inc. as Chief Strategy Officer. Over the next three years, he transformed the company’s revenue from zero to over $728 million, while securing significant investments from Alibaba and guiding Snap through its successful 2017 IPO. His strategic vision helped position the company as a major player in the social media landscape. Recognition soon followed, with Khan being named among Adweek’s “Most Indispensable Executives in Marketing, Media, and Tech.”
Building Verishop for Independent Brands
After leaving Snap in 2018 to spend more time with family, Khan co-founded Verishop with Cate Khan. The couple envisioned a curated shopping experience where consumers could discover high-quality products from independent brands without the noise and unreliability of traditional marketplaces. At launch, Verishop featured just over 150 brands today, it has grown into a trusted platform with thousands of sellers and a rapidly expanding customer base. By avoiding counterfeit products and prioritizing curation, Verishop has built a reputation for quality and trust.
A Platform Designed for Creators
Khan’s focus extends beyond shoppers; he’s equally dedicated to empowering brand founders. Recognizing that social media algorithms often bury smaller brands, Verishop introduced features like livestream shopping and integrated content to help brands connect directly with consumers. These tools have doubled conversion rates and boosted customer engagement, giving independent brands the visibility they need to compete in an increasingly crowded digital space.
Driving Growth and Innovation
Under Khan’s leadership, Verishop has achieved remarkable growth. Merchant retention sits at around 99%, and year-over-year merchant growth is up by 120%. In just one quarter, its marketing solutions business expanded sixfold, while gross merchandise value increased by 50% compared to the previous year. These results highlight Khan’s ability to combine data-driven decision-making with a passion for supporting emerging entrepreneurs.
