Artisight healthcare AI solutions for hospitals
Artisight healthcare AI solutions for hospitals are redefining how medical facilities operate by combining IoT sensor networks, computer vision, and AI to streamline hospital operations. Founded in the Greater Chicago area (Glenview, IL), Artisight’s HIPAA-compliant platform uses deep learning to generate new data insights that were previously unattainable boosting operational efficiency, financial performance, and ultimately patient care.
At the helm is Artisight’s co-founder and CEO, Andrew Gostine, whose blend of clinical experience and business acumen drives the company’s mission forward.
Early Life and Education
Foundations in Science and Medicine
Andrew Gostine embarked on his academic path at Boston College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. Driven by a passion for medicine and innovation, he then enrolled in Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he obtained his M.D. degree.
Advanced Training and Business Insight
After medical school, Dr. Andrew Gostine completed his Anesthesiology Residency at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by advanced training in Critical Care Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. To complement his medical expertise, he earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
These dual academic paths equipped him to bridge the gap between frontline clinical care and transformational healthcare technology.
Career Journey: From ICU to IoT Innovation
Early Clinical and Tech Roles
Dr. Andrew Gostine began his professional journey with a transitional year residency at Presence Health in 2013–2014. He then served as a Resident Anesthesiologist at Northwestern Medicine (2014–2017), while concurrently joining Stanford Health Care as a Critical Care Fellow in 2017–2018. A brief stint at Jump Capital as a Venture Capital Associate in 2015 gave him exposure to the startup and investment world.
Launching Artisight
Drawing on his frontline experience and business training, Dr. Gostine co-founded Artisight (initially known as Whiteboard Coordinator) in late 2014 or early 2015 serving as CEO since incorporation. Under his leadership, Artisight has grown as a smart hospital platform leveraging AI, IoT, and computer vision to unlock real-time insights and seamless workflow integration.
Vision and Impact: Transforming Hospitals with AI
Dr. Gostine’s clinical background shaped Artisight’s mission to solve real problems in ICU and operating room workflows. As a practicing critical care anesthesiologist, he observed inefficiencies and unmet clinician needs prompting his drive to build technology that supports rather than replaces human care.
Artisight’s IoT sensors and computer vision systems “see” events in hospital rooms, convert them into structured, actionable data without saving video thus preserving privacy while delivering insights. As Dr. Gostine explains, this system acts like “a light switch,” structuring events in real-time while keeping clinicians comfortable and confident.
During the COVID-19 pandemic when access to patient rooms was severely limited Artisight deployed mobile systems rapidly across hospitals. Dr. Andrew Gostine shared that they installed 1,300 systems in just six weeks, underscoring the speed, adaptability, and real-world impact of their platform.
Through his continued clinical engagement, Dr. Andrew Gostine ensures Artisight stays responsive to dynamic clinician needs a rare fusion of bedside insight and tech leadership.
Why Artisight, Why Gostine, and What’s Next
Artisight is on a mission to revolutionize hospital workflows by integrating privacy-conscious computer vision and advanced AI technologies. The platform uses real-time sensing and data processing to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and automate routine administrative tasks, allowing clinicians to focus more on direct patient care. By minimizing documentation burdens, enhancing staff coordination, and delivering actionable insights without compromising patient privacy, Artisight helps hospitals operate more efficiently and cost-effectively. This approach not only improves the daily experience for healthcare providers but also ensures patients benefit from faster response times, better resource allocation, and consistently high-quality care.
Andrew Gostine’s leadership is rooted in a deep understanding of both medicine and business. His background fosters credibility and connection with clinicians, and his forward-thinking vision steers the company toward impactful innovation.
As Artisight continues to scale, hospitals will likely see added value in automated documentation, quality assurance, care coordination, and even predictive analytics all powered by AI-enabled sensors that observe, convert, and protect.
