The global ground transportation industry continues to embrace digital transformation, and Busbud is taking another major step in that direction. The Montreal-based travel technology company has secured $40 million in credit financing from Vista Credit Partners to accelerate the growth of its newly launched parent company, Terra Mobility. The investment will support the expansion of the company’s software platform, strengthen its marketplace business, and help fund future strategic acquisitions.
The announcement reflects Busbud’s long-term vision of creating a more connected and efficient ecosystem for ground transportation operators and travelers worldwide.
Funding to Drive Future Growth
Busbud said the $40 million credit financing from Vista Credit Partners will be used to expand TerraOS, its enterprise software platform for ground transportation operators. The company also plans to grow its consumer marketplace and pursue strategic acquisitions that complement its technology and business objectives.
Unlike equity funding, this financing comes in the form of credit, allowing the company to invest in growth while maintaining its ownership structure.
Terra Mobility Brings Businesses Together
Alongside the funding announcement, Busbud introduced Terra Mobility, a new parent company that combines its consumer travel marketplaces and enterprise software solutions under one organization.
The new structure brings together Busbud’s travel booking platforms with TerraOS, an operating platform designed to help transportation operators manage and modernize their businesses. By combining these businesses, Terra Mobility aims to provide technology solutions that improve operational efficiency while making ground travel easier for passengers.
TerraOS Supports Transportation Operators
TerraOS integrates several software capabilities into a single platform for bus and ground transportation operators. The system is designed to help operators manage ticketing, reservations, inventory, distribution, and other business functions through one unified solution.
Busbud believes the platform can simplify operations, improve efficiency, and support operators as they adapt to changing customer expectations in the travel industry.
Leadership Comments on the Next Growth Phase
LP Maurice, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Busbud, said the financing marks an important milestone for the company as it continues building technology for the global ground transportation market. He added that Terra Mobility brings together consumer travel services and enterprise software to help operators grow while delivering better travel experiences.
Greg Galligan, Co-Head of Vista Credit Partners and Senior Managing Director at Vista Equity Partners, said Terra Mobility combines a global travel marketplace with software solutions for transportation operators, positioning the company to serve a large and evolving market.
New Leadership Appointments
Busbud also announced two leadership appointments as part of its latest expansion.
The company named Mathieu Provencher as its new Chief Financial Officer. Provencher previously held finance leadership roles at Vention and Novisto after beginning his career at McKinsey & Company.
In addition, Erik Blachford was appointed Chairman of the Board. Blachford has served on Busbud’s board for several years and brings extensive experience from the global travel and technology sectors.
Looking Ahead
Founded in Montreal, Canada, Busbud has expanded beyond an online bus ticket marketplace to build technology solutions for the ground transportation industry. With the launch of Terra Mobility and the new $40 million credit financing, the company plans to strengthen its software platform, expand its marketplace operations, and pursue strategic acquisitions that support its long-term growth strategy.
The latest investment positions Busbud to continue developing digital solutions for transportation operators while supporting the ongoing modernization of ground travel worldwide.
