Industrial technology company AMETEK has completed its acquisition of First Aviation Services, expanding its presence in the aerospace and defense maintenance sector. The company announced the completion of the deal on May 26, 2026, marking another step in its strategy to grow through specialized industrial acquisitions.
First Aviation Services is known for providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for aviation and defense platforms. The company also manufactures proprietary aerospace components used in critical aircraft systems. According to AMETEK, First Aviation generates approximately $80 million in annual revenue and operates six centers of excellence across the United States.
Acquisition Expands Aerospace Capabilities
AMETEK said First Aviation will become part of its Electromechanical Group (EMG), a division that supplies advanced engineered solutions to aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial markets.
The acquisition strengthens AMETEK’s aviation MRO capabilities in several important areas, including advanced electronics, landing gear, rotor blades, propellers, and flight control systems. These services support both military and commercial aviation customers.
David A. Zapico, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AMETEK, said the acquisition adds strong technical capabilities and highly engineered products to the company’s aerospace portfolio. He also noted that First Aviation has built a strong reputation in the aviation services industry.
Focus on Long-Term Growth
AMETEK has continued to expand its business through acquisitions in high-growth industrial sectors. The company operates globally and manufactures electronic instruments and electromechanical devices for a wide range of industries.
The addition of First Aviation is expected to strengthen AMETEK’s position in the aerospace aftermarket, an industry that depends heavily on long-term maintenance and repair support. With aviation operators focusing on maintaining and upgrading existing fleets, demand for specialized MRO services has remained strong.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed.
Deal First Announced in April
AMETEK initially announced the acquisition agreement in April 2026, stating that the transaction was subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. With those requirements now completed, the acquisition has officially closed.
First Aviation’s U.S.-based service network and technical expertise are expected to support AMETEK’s broader aerospace and defense operations. The company will now focus on integrating First Aviation into its existing business structure while continuing to expand its aerospace capabilities.
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation in the aerospace services industry, where companies are increasingly investing in specialized maintenance and support businesses to strengthen long-term customer relationships and recurring service revenue.
