The future of commercial fleet technology depends on reliable data, and Terminal is taking a major step to meet that demand. The Toronto-based startup has raised US$20 million in Series A funding to accelerate the growth of its telematics data platform. The investment will help the company expand its team, enhance its technology, and serve more enterprise customers as businesses increasingly rely on connected vehicle data for daily operations.

Founded in 2023, Terminal has quickly built a platform that simplifies how companies access and use telematics data. Instead of creating separate integrations for different telematics providers, businesses can connect to Terminal through a single API, making fleet data easier to collect, manage, and analyze.

Battery Ventures Leads the Series A Round

The Series A funding round was led by Battery Ventures. New investors Intact Private Capital and Penske Transportation Solutions joined the round, while existing investors Y Combinator and Wayfinder Ventures also participated.

With this latest investment, Terminal has raised a total of US$26 million since its launch. As part of the funding round, Marcus Ryu, General Partner at Battery Ventures and former CEO of Guidewire Software, has joined Terminal’s board of directors. His experience in building enterprise software companies is expected to support the startup as it enters its next phase of growth.

A Single Platform for Fleet Data

Terminal was founded by Raghav Midha, Chief Executive Officer, and Connor Giles, Chief Technology Officer. The company has developed a universal API that allows customers to access telematics data from more than 325 providers through a single integration.

Commercial fleets often use different telematics systems, making data integration complex and time-consuming. Terminal solves this problem by standardizing information from multiple sources, allowing insurers, logistics companies, fleet operators, and financial services firms to work with consistent, high-quality data.

According to the company, its platform currently processes about 2 terabytes of telematics data every day and has handled more than 5 billion kilometres of historical driving data. These capabilities help customers gain faster insights while reducing the cost and complexity of managing multiple integrations.

Funding to Support Growth

Terminal plans to use the new funding to expand its workforce, grow its engineering capabilities, and strengthen its platform. The company also intends to increase its presence among large enterprise customers while continuing to improve the infrastructure that powers connected fleet data.

The company has stated that it expects to grow from its current team of 17 employees to approximately 30 employees as it scales its operations. It also plans to expand its office in Toronto to support its growing workforce.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Connected Vehicle Data

As commercial transportation becomes more connected, businesses need accurate and standardized vehicle data to improve efficiency, manage risk, and support better decision-making. Fleet operators, insurers, and financial institutions increasingly depend on telematics information for vehicle tracking, maintenance planning, safety analysis, and operational reporting.

By providing one standardized connection to hundreds of telematics providers, Terminal removes a significant technical challenge for enterprise customers. This allows organizations to focus on using data rather than spending time building and maintaining complex integrations.

Looking Ahead

The successful Series A funding round marks an important milestone for Terminal as it continues to expand its presence in the connected mobility market. Backed by experienced investors and supported by a growing customer base, the company is well positioned to strengthen its telematics infrastructure platform and meet the rising demand for reliable fleet data solutions.

As connected vehicles continue to reshape transportation and logistics, Terminal aims to make fleet data more accessible, consistent, and easier for enterprises to use, helping businesses make smarter decisions with greater confidence.
