As companies bring more AI models, agents, and applications into everyday business operations, securing these systems has become an increasingly important challenge. Mindgard is looking to address that challenge after raising $30 million in Series A funding to expand its AI security platform and support growing customer demand.

The Boston- and London-based AI security company announced the funding on August 12, 2026. Album VC led the round, with participation from Karma Ventures and existing investors, including .406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital and Lakestar.

Mindgard Raises $30M Series A

Mindgard will use the new funding to scale its product, engineering, sales and marketing teams. The company said the investment will help it respond to customer demand and expand its operations.

The latest financing gives Mindgard additional capital at a time when enterprises are adopting AI across a wider range of business functions. As these systems become more connected to business applications and data, organizations also face new security and safety risks. Mindgard focuses on security testing and protection for AI systems. Its platform is designed to help organizations discover, assess, and defend their AI deployments against potential attacks and security threats.

Building Security for AI Systems

Mindgard combines AI security research with offensive security expertise. The company says its technology can help security teams examine AI models, agents and applications for weaknesses.

Its platform includes capabilities such as Shadow AI discovery, AI red teaming and run-time AI protection. These tools are intended to help organizations identify AI systems operating across their environments, test them for potential vulnerabilities and provide protection during operation. The company grew from more than a decade of AI security research at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. Mindgard is now headquartered in Boston and London.

More Than 150 AI Vulnerabilities Disclosed

Mindgard said its technology has helped discover and publicly disclose more than 150 high-impact security and safety vulnerabilities in widely used AI products.

The company has cited several examples of its security research, including a zero-day code execution vulnerability in Cursor IDE, a trusted-workspace vulnerability involving Google Antigravity, and issues involving ChatGPT’s image-generation guardrails. These findings form part of the company’s broader security research. Mindgard says it uses intelligence from this work to build a proprietary knowledge base that supports its AI security platform.

Growing Enterprise AI Security Needs

The funding comes as businesses increasingly move AI systems from experimentation into production. This shift has created demand for security tools that can address risks specific to AI models and agents. Mindgard said its platform has seen growing adoption among Fortune 2000 organizations and other AI-focused businesses. The company identified customers and AI innovators across industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, gaming, digital services, semiconductors and healthcare.

AI systems can create security challenges that differ from those found in traditional software. Models can process untrusted inputs, interact with other applications and, in the case of AI agents, potentially perform actions on behalf of users. This makes security testing an important part of deploying AI at scale.

Leadership and Investor Support

James Brear, CEO of Mindgard, said AI is creating a new attack surface and argued that enterprises need a different approach to securing these systems. He added that the new investment will help the company expand its global reach and make attacker-driven AI security a core part of enterprise AI management. Album VC partner Ty Boswell also pointed to the growing use of AI in critical business operations. He said Mindgard combines research and offensive-security expertise to help enterprises address emerging AI threats.

With its new $30 million Series A, Mindgard now plans to strengthen its technology and expand its commercial operations. The company is positioning its platform around a growing need: helping organizations understand and manage the security risks that come with deploying AI models, agents and applications at scale. The funding also highlights the broader growth of the AI security market as enterprises move beyond experimenting with AI and begin relying on these systems for increasingly important business tasks.
