Graycliff Partners has acquired Tramont Manufacturing, a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of generator enclosures and fuel tanks used in backup power systems for data centers, healthcare facilities, and industrial sites. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1977, Tramont Manufacturing produces custom-engineered diesel fuel tanks, sound-attenuated enclosures, sub-base tanks, and related components that support large backup power systems. The company’s products are widely used in mission-critical facilities where uninterrupted power is essential.
Graycliff Targets Growth in Data Center Infrastructure
Graycliff said the acquisition strengthens its position in the growing backup power and data center infrastructure market. Demand for reliable power systems has increased as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services continue to drive expansion in data center construction across the United States.
Andrew Trigg, managing partner at Graycliff Partners, said Tramont operates in an attractive market with long-term growth potential.
“Tramont is a high-quality, differentiated manufacturer operating in an attractive and growing end market,” Trigg said in the company statement.
Graycliff plans to support Tramont by expanding manufacturing capacity, improving internal systems, and exploring additional acquisitions that can strengthen its position in the generator and enclosure market.
Tramont Leadership to Remain in Place
Tramont Executive Chairman Nand Kumar will continue to lead the company and retain a significant ownership stake after the transaction.
Kumar said Graycliff’s operational experience and understanding of the industrial manufacturing sector made the partnership a strong fit for Tramont’s future growth plans.
The company operates from a 175,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Milwaukee and serves generator OEMs, distributors, and infrastructure customers across North America.
Demand for Backup Power Systems Continues to Rise
The acquisition comes as businesses and public facilities invest heavily in backup power solutions to improve grid resiliency and avoid downtime during outages. Tramont specializes in UL-listed diesel fuel tanks and engineered enclosures designed to meet strict safety and fire code requirements in major cities, including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Graycliff said it will continue investing in Tramont’s infrastructure and commercial capabilities as demand for generator enclosures and power storage systems increases. The transaction also reflects Graycliff’s broader strategy of investing in niche industrial manufacturing companies with specialized products and strong customer relationships.
